The Dreaming is a three-movement work inspired by Indigenous Australian creation stories and songlines—musical pathways that map both landscape and culture. The first movement draws on the Seven Sisters story, tracing a pursuit across land and sky; the second evokes shifting patterns of stars emerging from a shimmering sonic field; and the third reflects the gathering force of monsoon storms in northern Australia. Across the work, fragments of melody and texture guide the listener through an imagined landscape shaped by story, movement, and memory.
